Local Artist Visit!!
We were very lucky to have Shannon McKeon, a local artist (and parent at our school) agree to visit and help us learn some new crafting skills.
We learnt how to make recycled paper and then using some premade paper made our very own homemade books, which we are going to use to record some of the information we have learnt about the ancient Egyptians.
Thank you for a fantastic morning Shannon! We all had a blast!

The Iron Man - Ted Hughes
A mysterious, colossal metal giant appears on Earth and begins devouring farm machinery until a young boy named Hogarth befriends him and leads him to a peaceful life in a scrapyard. The world is soon threatened by a monstrous "space-bat-angel-dragon" from outer space that demands to be fed living creatures. By enduring a trial of fire, the Iron Man defeats the monster and commands it to sing a peaceful star-tune, which eliminates all human warfare and brings global harmony.
Reading the Iron Man has led us to creating our own material humanoid and space creature who we then used to build our own ending of the story, facing challenges and overcoming adversity.
The Barnabus Project - The Fan Brothers
In a secret underground laboratory, Barnabus is a failed "Perfect Pet" experiment—part mouse, part elephant—who is hidden away in a glass jar because he isn't flawless. Upon learning that he and his misfit friends are about to be recycled, he breaks out of his jar and leads a daring escape toward the outside world. Ultimately, the brave creatures find freedom and a place where they are loved exactly as they are.
Year 3 children will be using the beautifully illustrated story to inspire our own prequels, becoming the first scientist to create a Perfect Pet, including a set of instructions to clearly explain how they made it.
